Who we are
Home Shield Family is a brand of Lead Bison LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Home Shield Family," "we," "us"). We run homeshieldfamily.com, where homeowners can ask to be contacted by a licensed insurance agent about mortgage protection life insurance.
We are not an insurance company or an insurance agency. We do not sell insurance, quote prices, or give insurance advice. We connect you with licensed agents who do.
This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
What you tell us on our form. Your ZIP code, where you are in looking for coverage, why you are looking (for example, a new home or a refinance), who the coverage would be for, your approximate mortgage balance and monthly payment, who you would want the policy to pay out to, your gender, your age range, whether you have used tobacco or nicotine in the last 12 months, whether you have had major health issues in the last few years, and your name, email address and phone number.
Health and tobacco answers. We ask a yes or no question about major health issues and about tobacco use only so an agent can look for coverage that fits you. We do not ask for medical records, diagnoses or medications.
Verification information. We text a one-time code to confirm you have access to the phone number you gave us. We use service providers to check that your phone number and email address are valid and reachable, and to help screen out fraud.
Consent records. When you submit the form we record the consent language shown to you, the date and time, your IP address, your browser and device type, and the page you were on. We use TrustedForm, a service from ActiveProspect, which records your interaction with our form to document that you gave consent.
Advertising and analytics information. We and our advertising partners, including Meta (Facebook and Instagram), use cookies, pixels and similar tools to measure how our ads perform and to show ads to people who may be interested. We also record the ad or link that brought you to our site, such as campaign and ad identifiers in the web address.
How we use your information
- To connect you with a licensed insurance agent who can help with your request.
- To verify your phone number and email and to prevent fraud and duplicate requests.
- To keep records of your consent to be contacted.
- To measure and improve our website and advertising.
- To comply with the law and protect our rights.
Who we share your information with
Licensed insurance agents. The main purpose of our website is to share your information with licensed insurance agents or agencies who serve your state, so they can contact you about mortgage protection and other life insurance products. When you first submit our form, your information goes to one agent, who has exclusive use of it for 30 days. After that period, we may share your information with other licensed agents or agencies. Agents pay us for this information, which may be considered a "sale" of personal information under some state laws. Each agent who receives your information is responsible for how they use it.
Service providers. We use companies that help us run our business, such as website and form hosting, lead delivery, text message verification, phone and email validation, consent recording (TrustedForm), and advertising and analytics platforms. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
Legal and business reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to legal process, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, sale or transfer of our business.
Calls, texts and emails
By submitting our form, you agree to be contacted as described in the consent language shown on the form. That may include calls and text messages using automated technology and prerecorded or artificial voice messages, even if your number is on a do-not-call list. Your consent is not a condition of buying any product. Message and data rates may apply.
You can stop contact at any time:
- Reply STOP to any text message.
- Tell the agent who contacts you that you no longer want to be contacted.
- Email us at privacy@homeshieldfamily.com. We will stop sharing your information and will pass your request along to the agents we have already shared it with.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to tell you what information we have about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop selling or sharing it. Email privacy@homeshieldfamily.com with the name, email and phone number you used on our form. We will verify your request and respond within 45 days. If you ask us to stop selling or sharing your information, we will not share it with any additional agents. Agents who already received it have their own obligations to honor your requests.
Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have additional rights. These include the right to know the categories of information we collect and share, to opt out of the sale of your information and of targeted advertising, to appeal our decision on your request, and to use an authorized agent to make a request for you. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. To appeal a decision on your request, reply to our response and write "Appeal" in the subject line.
In the last 12 months we have collected the categories of information described above: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address), demographic information (age range and gender), information about your home loan, limited health and tobacco information, internet activity on our site, and approximate location from your ZIP code. We have sold or shared these categories with licensed insurance agents and, for advertising, with ad platforms.
How long we keep information
We keep lead and consent records for at least five years so we can show that contact was requested, and longer if the law requires. We delete or de-identify information when we no longer need it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent over the internet.
Children
Our website is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. The version posted when you submit our form applies to that submission.
